Adverse Possession of Real Estate and Tax

Winning a court case over adverse possession of real estate brings joy to the new owner, but it also entails the unpleasant obligation of paying tax to the tax office. This levy amounts to 7% of the tax base – the market value of the property – and must be paid within 14 days of receiving the administrative decision establishing its amount.

For information on possible deductions from the property value to reduce the tax amount and on completing the formalities with the tax office after a court has confirmed adverse possession, it is advisable to consult with an experienced legal advisor.
