Inheritance from grandparents, inheritance from grandchildren.

It is a natural and quite common phenomenon for grandchildren to inherit property from their grandparents. This happens when the grandparents’ children are dead, have been disinherited or have rejected the inheritance. However, not everyone knows that since 2009, grandparents – in special circumstances – may also be entitled to the inheritance of their grandchildren. Such inheritance occurs when the deceased grandchild had no spouse, children, parents or siblings.
Importantly, the above rules of inheritance in the grandparent-grandchild relationship apply to inheritance in accordance with the Civil Code when the deceased did not leave a will.
